About the Blue Kats
Community Members. Community Service. The Story Behind the Service
The Blue Kats Men’s Club isn’t just about doing good work—it’s about connection, camaraderie, and carrying forward a tradition of community-minded service that’s been growing for over 30 years.
What began as a few neighbors gathering to help others in need has evolved into a steady, responsive presence in Saugerties. Through monthly meetings, shared meals, and hands-on fundraising, we’ve built something lasting: a place where men of all ages and backgrounds can plug into their community and make a difference.

Our Roots
We’re proudly based in the Blue Mountain/Katsbaan area of Saugerties, and that’s where our name comes from—Blue Kats. Our founders were local men who saw a need and decided to do something about it. They didn’t set out to build a nonprofit. They just showed up, pooled resources, and helped out.
That spirit still drives us today. We’re not here for recognition—we’re here because we care.

Our Members
Blue Kats members come from all walks of life. Some are retired. Some are working full-time. Some have lived in Saugerties their whole lives, while others are new to town. What unites us is a shared belief that small acts of service, done together, can have a big impact.
Whether you’re looking to make new friends, stay connected, or give back in a low-pressure way, you’ll find your place here.

Our Meetings
We meet once a month for a catered dinner, a short meeting, and a guest speaker. These gatherings are relaxed, welcoming, and open to anyone interested in learning more. You won’t be asked to do more than you’re comfortable with—but you will be encouraged to participate in the ways that matter most to you.
You can read more about the format of our meetings and who speaks on our Meetings page.

Our Fundraiser
Every fall, we come together to run our garlic sausage sandwich booth at the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival—our biggest fundraiser of the year. It’s a full-team effort that not only brings in the majority of our donations but also brings members closer together through shared work and purpose.
Whether you’re flipping sausages, serving sandwiches, or just stopping by to support, it’s a tradition that makes a real impact.

Our Community
Saugerties is a place where people look out for each other. That’s why we do what we do—because we believe in showing up for our neighbors, especially when life gets hard. Whether we’re raising money at the Garlic Festival, delivering firewood, or supporting local youth programs, we’re driven by the belief that service strengthens us all.
